Comings and Goings is a blog written by Theology, Worship and Education Director Charles B. "Chip" Hardwick as he travels throughout the church. God is on the move out and about in the world, working to redeem all things in Jesus Christ. As we join this mission, by the power of the Spirit we see God on the move. This blog contains glimpses of how Chip finds this to be true in his comings and goings.
You can follow Chip on twitter (@chiphardwick) or find him on Facebook (Chip Hardwick).
One of the great joys of my call as Director of Theology, Worship, and Education for the Presbyterian Mission Agency is that I get to travel around to all sorts of places—I’m currently in the midst of eight cities, seven sermons, and six presentations in seven weeks! Recently I have been to Hopewell Presbyterian Church in Charlotte, NC; the World Council of Churches and the World Communion of Reformed Churches in Geneva, Switzerland; the Fellowship/ECO conference in Orlando, FL; the Association of Presbyterian Christian Educators conference (also) in Orlando, FL; First Presbyterian Church of Naples, FL; and to Rome, Italy, in order to meet with leaders at the Vatican and among the Waldensian (Presbyterian) Church of Italy.
I am grateful for all of these opportunities to attend conferences, preach at churches, teach at presbytery meetings, connect with church leaders, etc. It’s an amazing bird’s eye view of what God is doing in and through (and sometimes despite) the Presbyterian Church (USA).
My hope in this blog is that I will be able to share some glimpses of how God is on the move as I go from place to place. I’ll be sharing insights that I gained from people I met, indications of how the Spirit is moving all across the globe that I saw, challenges that I received, grief that I felt, and joy that I experienced.
As you read, my hope is that these glimpses encourage you to help you to see where God is on the move in your world!
