Marking 9/11 with Prayer
September 11
Today marks the eleventh anniversary of the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. Though it may be hard for adults to process, most of our children have never known a world that has been not been shaped by this life-changing, and worldview altering, event. Since 9/11, our children have lived in a world where we seem to divide ourselves into two factions: those who are like us, and those who perceive the world in radically different ways than we do, whether politically or socially, on the basis of religion or race or nationality or income.
Today, pray for our children, all children. Pray that the things that divide adults will not be allowed to damage the futures of children. Pray for the opportunity to have one respectful conversation with someone whose life experience and perspective is different from yours.
