Examination in Open Book Bible Exegesis

This examination shall assess the candidate's ability to interpret an assigned passage of Scripture by demonstrating attention to the original language of the text, an understanding of the text's historical context, and an ability to relate the text effectively to the contemporary life of the church in the world.

  1. I wonder what would happen if all the lay Presbyterians were to take the Bible Exegesis Exam on a regular basis. Imagine what would happen if they: 1. Had to read an assigned Bible passage. 2. Tell in their own words what they thought the Bible passage said and 3. Had to defend what they wrote. What impact would this have on our Christian Education programs and our churches?

  2. Exams are posted to the archives once the evaluation period is ended. Look for the August 2012 exams around the October 15 when registration opens for the spring exams.
