Daily Readings

1   Señor,
          ¿quién puede residir en tu santuario?,
          ¿quién puede habitar en tu santo monte?

2   Sólo el que vive sin tacha y practica la justicia;
          el que dice la verdad de todo corazón;
3   el que no habla mal de nadie;
          el que no hace daño a su amigo
          ni ofende a su vecino;
4   el que mira con desprecio a quien desprecio merece,
          pero honra a quien honra al Señor;
      el que cumple sus promesas aunque le vaya mal;
5   el que presta su dinero sin exigir intereses;
          el que no acepta soborno en contra del inocente.
      El que así vive, jamás caerá.

²³When Abigail saw David, she hurried and alighted from the donkey, and fell before David on her face, bowing to the ground. ²⁴She fell at his feet and said, “Upon me alone, my lord, be the guilt; please let your servant speak in your ears, and hear the words of your servant. ²⁵My lord, do not take seriously this ill-natured fellow Nabal; for as his name is, so is he; Nabal is his name, and folly is with him; but I, your servant, did not see the young men of my lord, whom you sent.

²⁶“Now then, my lord, as the LORD lives, and as you yourself live, since the LORD has restrained you from bloodguilt and from taking vengeance with your own hand, now let your enemies and those who seek to do evil to my lord be like Nabal. ²⁷And now let this present that your servant has brought to my lord be given to the young men who follow my lord. ²⁸Please forgive the trespass of your servant; for the LORD will certainly make my lord a sure house, because my lord is fighting the battles of the LORD; and evil shall not be found in you as long as you live. ²⁹If anyone should rise up to pursue you and to seek your life, the life of my lord shall be bound in the bundle of the living under the care of the LORD your God; but the lives of your enemies he shall sling out as from the hollow of a sling. ³⁰When the LORD has done to my lord according to all the good that he has spoken concerning you, and has appointed you prince over Israel, ³¹my lord shall have no cause of grief, or pangs of conscience, for having shed blood without cause or for having saved himself. And when the LORD has dealt well with my lord, then remember your servant.”

³²David said to Abigail, “Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, who sent you to meet me today! ³³Blessed be your good sense, and blessed be you, who have kept me today from bloodguilt and from avenging myself by my own hand! ³⁴For as surely as the LORD the God of Israel lives, who has restrained me from hurting you, unless you had hurried and come to meet me, truly by morning there would not have been left to Nabal as much as one male.” ³⁵Then David received from her hand what she had brought him; he said to her, “Go up to your house in peace; see, I have heeded your voice, and I have granted your petition.”

³⁶Abigail came to Nabal; he was holding a feast in his house, like the feast of a king. Nabal’s heart was merry within him, for he was very drunk; so she told him nothing at all until the morning light. ³⁷In the morning, when the wine had gone out of Nabal, his wife told him these things, and his heart died within him; he became like a stone. ³⁸About ten days later the LORD struck Nabal, and he died.

³⁹When David heard that Nabal was dead, he said, “Blessed be the LORD who has judged the case of Nabal’s insult to me, and has kept back his servant from evil; the LORD has returned the evildoing of Nabal upon his own head.” Then David sent and wooed Abigail, to make her his wife. ⁴⁰When David’s servants came to Abigail at Carmel, they said to her, “David has sent us to you to take you to him as his wife.” ⁴¹She rose and bowed down, with her face to the ground, and said, “Your servant is a slave to wash the feet of the servants of my lord.” ⁴²Abigail got up hurriedly and rode away on a donkey; her five maids attended her. She went after the messengers of David and became his wife.

⁴³David also married Ahinoam of Jezreel; both of them became his wives. ⁴⁴Saul had given his daughter Michal, David’s wife, to Palti son of Laish, who was from Gallim.

¹⁹ En esto llegaron unos judíos de Antioquía y de Iconio, que hicieron cambiar de parecer a la gente; entonces apedrearon a Pablo y, creyendo que lo habían matado, lo arrastraron fuera del pueblo. ²⁰ Pero cuando los creyentes se juntaron alrededor de Pablo, él se levantó y entró otra vez en el pueblo; y al día siguiente salió con Bernabé para Derbe.

²¹ Después de anunciar la buena noticia en Derbe, donde ganaron muchos creyentes, volvieron a Listra, a Iconio y a Antioquía. ²² En estos lugares animaron a los creyentes, y recomendándoles que siguieran firmes en la fe, les dijeron que para entrar en el reino de Dios hay que sufrir muchas aflicciones. ²³ También nombraron ancianos en cada iglesia, y después de orar y ayunar los encomendaron al Señor, en quien habían creído.

²⁴ Pasando por la región de Pisidia, llegaron a la de Panfilia. ²⁵ Anunciaron el mensaje en Perge, y luego fueron a Atalía; ²⁶ allí se embarcaron para Antioquía, la ciudad donde los habían encomendado al amor de Dios para el trabajo que ahora habían terminado. ²⁷ Cuando llegaron a Antioquía, reunieron a los de la iglesia y les contaron todas las cosas que Dios había hecho con ellos, y cómo el Señor había abierto la puerta a los no judíos, para que también ellos pudieran creer. ²⁸ Y Pablo y Bernabé se quedaron allí mucho tiempo con los creyentes.

³⁵ Al anochecer de aquel mismo día, Jesús dijo a sus discípulos:

—Vamos al otro lado del lago.

³⁶ Entonces dejaron a la gente y llevaron a Jesús en la barca en que ya estaba; y también otras barcas lo acompañaban. ³⁷ En esto se desató una tormenta, con un viento tan fuerte que las olas caían sobre la barca, de modo que se llenaba de agua. ³⁸ Pero Jesús se había dormido en la parte de atrás, apoyado sobre una almohada. Lo despertaron y le dijeron:

—¡Maestro! ¿No te importa que nos estemos hundiendo?

³⁹ Jesús se levantó y dio una orden al viento, y dijo al mar:

—¡Silencio! ¡Quédate quieto!

El viento se calmó, y todo quedó completamente tranquilo. ⁴⁰ Después dijo Jesús a los discípulos:

—¿Por qué están asustados? ¿Todavía no tienen fe?

⁴¹ Ellos se llenaron de miedo, y se preguntaban unos a otros:

—¿Quién será éste, que hasta el viento y el mar lo obedecen?

1   ¡El Señor es grande y digno de alabanza
          en la ciudad de nuestro Dios.
     Su santo monte, 2 hermosa en elevación,
          es la alegría de toda la tierra,
     el monte Sión, en el extremo norte,
          la ciudad del gran Rey.
3   En sus palacios Dios
          se ha mostrado defensa segura.

4   Entonces los reyes se reunieron,
          vinieron juntos.
5   Al verla quedaron asombrados;
          se atemorizaron y huyeron;
6   el temor los dominó,
          dolores como de mujer de parto,
7   como cuando el viento del este destruye
          los barcos de Tarsis.
8   Como hemos oído, así hemos visto
          en la ciudad del SEÑOR de los ejércitos,
     en la ciudad de nuestro Dios,
          que Dios la establece para siempre. Selah

9   Meditamos en tu amor fiel, oh Dios,
          en medio de tu templo.
10  Tu nombre, oh Dios, como tu alabanza,
          llega hasta los confines de la tierra.
     Tu mano derecha está llena de victoria.
11       Alégrese el monte Sión,
     las ciudades de Judá se regocijen
          por tus juicios.

12  Recorran Sión, den la vuelta a su alrededor,
          cuenten sus torres;
13  consideren bien sus murallas,
          pasen revista a sus palacios,
     para contar a la siguiente generación
14       que este es Dios,
     nuestro Dios para siempre jamás.
          Él nos guiará eternamente.

1   Dios y defensor mío,
          ¡contéstame cuando te llame!
          Tú, que en mi angustia me diste alivio,
          ¡ten compasión de mí y escucha mi oración.

2   ¿Hasta cuándo, ustedes, ofenderán mi honor?
          ¿Hasta cuándo amarán palabras vanas
          y buscarán mentiras? Selah
3   Pero sepan que el Señor aparta para sí a los fieles;
          el Señor escucha cuando lo llamo.

4   Cuando estén angustiados, no pequen;
          mediten en su lecho y enmudezcan. Selah
5   Ofrezcan sacrificios rectos
          y confíen en el Señor.

6   Muchos dicen: “¡Ojalá veamos algo bueno!
          Que brille sobre nosotros la luz de tu rostro, Señor.”
7   Has puesto alegría en mi corazón
          más que cuando abundan su grano y su vino.

8   Yo me acostaré y dormiré en paz,
          porque solo tú, Señor, me haces vivir seguro.
