(1a) Salmo de Asaf.
1 (1b) El Señor, el Dios de los dioses, ha hablado;
ha llamado a los que habitan la tierra
del oriente al occidente.
2 Dios resplandece desde Sión,
la ciudad de belleza perfecta.
3 Nuestro Dios viene, pero no en silencio:
delante de él, un fuego destructor;
a su alrededor, una fuerte tormenta.
4 Desde lo alto, Dios llama al cielo y a la tierra
a presenciar el juicio de su pueblo:

5 «Reúnan a los que me son fieles,
a los que han hecho una alianza conmigo
ofreciéndome un sacrificio.»
6 Y el cielo declara que Dios es juez justo.

7 «Escucha, Israel, pueblo mío;
voy a poner las cosas en claro contigo.
¡Yo soy Dios! ¡Yo soy tu Dios!
8 No te censuro por los sacrificios
y holocaustos que siempre me ofreces.
9 No te pido becerros de tu ganado
ni machos cabríos de tus corrales,
10 pues míos son todos los animales salvajes,
lo mismo que los ganados de las serranías;
11 mías son las aves de las montañas
y todo lo que bulle en el campo.
12 Si yo tuviera hambre, no te lo diría a ti,
pues el mundo es mío, con todo lo que hay en él.
13 ¿Acaso me alimento de carne de toros,
o bebo sangre de machos cabríos?
14 ¡Sea la gratitud tu ofrenda a Dios;
cumple al Altísimo tus promesas!
15 Llámame cuando estés angustiado;
yo te libraré, y tú me honrarás.»

16 Pero al malvado Dios le dice:
«¿Qué derecho tienes de citar mis leyes
o de mencionar mi alianza,
17 si no te agrada que yo te corrija
ni das importancia a mis palabras?
18 Al ladrón lo recibes con los brazos abiertos;
¡te juntas con gente adúltera!
19 Para el mal y para inventar mentiras
se te sueltan la lengua y los labios.
20 Calumnias a tu hermano;
¡contra tu propio hermano lanzas ofensas!
21 Todo esto has hecho, y me he callado;
pensaste que yo era igual que tú.
Pero voy a acusarte cara a cara,
¡voy a ajustarte las cuentas!

22 »Entiendan bien esto, ustedes que olvidan a Dios,
no sea que empiece yo a despedazarlos
y no haya quien los libre:
23 el que me ofrece su gratitud, me honra.
¡Yo salvo al que permanece en mi camino!»

¹A shoot shall come out from the stump of Jesse,
     and a branch shall grow out of his roots.
²The spirit of the LORD shall rest on him,
     the spirit of wisdom and understanding,
     the spirit of counsel and might,
     the spirit of knowledge and the fear of the LORD.
³His delight shall be in the fear of the LORD.

He shall not judge by what his eyes see,
     or decide by what his ears hear;
⁴but with righteousness he shall judge the poor,
     and decide with equity for the meek of the earth;
he shall strike the earth with the rod of his mouth,
     and with the breath of his lips he shall kill the wicked.
⁵Righteousness shall be the belt around his waist,
     and faithfulness the belt around his loins.

⁶The wolf shall live with the lamb,
     the leopard shall lie down with the kid,
the calf and the lion and the fatling together,
     and a little child shall lead them.
⁷The cow and the bear shall graze,
     their young shall lie down together;
     and the lion shall eat straw like the ox.
⁸The nursing child shall play over the hole of the asp,
     and the weaned child shall put its hand on the adder's den.
⁹They will not hurt or destroy
     on all my holy mountain;
for the earth will be full of the knowledge of the LORD
     as the waters cover the sea.

¹⁰Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his power. ¹¹Put on the whole armor of God, so that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. ¹²For our struggle is not against enemies of blood and flesh, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers of this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. ¹³Therefore take up the whole armor of God, so that you may be able to withstand on that evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. ¹⁴Stand therefore, and fasten the belt of truth around your waist, and put on the breastplate of righteousness. ¹⁵As shoes for your feet put on whatever will make you ready to proclaim the gospel of peace. ¹⁶With all of these, take the shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench all the flaming arrows of the evil one. ¹⁷Take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

¹⁸Pray in the Spirit at all times in every prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert and always persevere in supplication for all the saints. ¹⁹Pray also for me, so that when I speak, a message may be given to me to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel, ²⁰for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it boldly, as I must speak.

¹⁶"For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life.

¹⁷"Indeed, God did not send the Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. ¹⁸Those who believe in him are not condemned; but those who do not believe are condemned already, because they have not believed in the name of the only Son of God. ¹⁹And this is the judgment, that the light has come into the world, and people loved darkness rather than light because their deeds were evil. ²⁰For all who do evil hate the light and do not come to the light, so that their deeds may not be exposed. ²¹But those who do what is true come to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that their deeds have been done in God."

1 (2) Los necios piensan que no hay Dios:
todos se han pervertido,
han hecho cosas malvadas;
¡no hay nadie que haga lo bueno!
2 (3) Desde el cielo, Dios mira a los hombres
para ver si hay alguien con entendimiento,
alguien que busque a Dios.
3 (4) Pero todos se han desviado,
todos por igual se han pervertido.
¡Ya no hay quien haga lo bueno!
¡No hay ni siquiera uno!

4 (5) No tienen entendimiento los malhechores,
los que se comen a mi pueblo como quien come pan,
los que no invocan el nombre de Dios.
5 (6) Aunque no haya razón para temblar,
ellos temblarán de miedo,
porque Dios esparce los huesos del enemigo.
Quedarán en ridículo, porque Dios los rechaza.

6 (7) ¡Ojalá que del monte Sión
venga la salvación de Israel!
Cuando Dios cambie la suerte de su pueblo,
se alegrarán los descendientes de Jacob,
todo el pueblo de Israel.

1 (1b) Señor, escucha mi causa justa,
atiende a mi clamor,
presta oído a mi oración,
pues no sale de labios mentirosos.

2 ¡Que venga de ti mi sentencia,
pues tú sabes lo que es justo!
3 Tú has penetrado mis pensamientos;
de noche has venido a vigilarme;
me has sometido a pruebas de fuego,
y no has encontrado maldad en mí.
No he dicho cosas indebidas,
4 como hacen los demás;
me he alejado de caminos de violencia,
de acuerdo con tus mandatos.
5 He seguido firme en tus caminos;
jamás me he apartado de ellos.

6 Oh Dios, a ti mi voz elevo,
porque tú me contestas;
préstame atención, escucha mis palabras.
7 Dame una clara muestra de tu amor,
tú, que salvas de sus enemigos
a los que buscan protección en tu poder.
8 Cuídame como a la niña de tus ojos;
protégeme bajo la sombra de tus alas
9 de los malvados que me atacan,
¡de los enemigos mortales que me rodean!
10 Son engreídos, hablan con altanería;
11 han seguido de cerca mis pasos
esperando el momento de echarme por tierra.
12 Parecen leones, feroces leones
que agazapados en su escondite
esperan con ansias dar el zarpazo.

13 Levántate, Señor, ¡enfréntate con ellos!
¡Hazles doblar las rodillas!
Con tu espada, ponme a salvo del malvado;
14 con tu poder, Señor, líbrame de ellos;
¡arrójalos de este mundo,
que es su herencia en esta vida!
Deja que ellos se llenen de riquezas,
que sus hijos coman hasta que revienten,
y que aún sobre para sus nietos.
15 Pero yo, en verdad, quedaré satisfecho
con mirarte cara a cara,
¡con verme ante ti cuando despierte!
