Daily Readings

(1) Del maestro de coro. De David, el servidor del Señor, que entonó este canto cuando el Señor lo libró de caer en manos de Saúl y de todos sus enemigos. (2a) Él dijo:
1 (2b) Tú, Señor, eres mi fuerza;
¡yo te amo!
2 (3) Tú eres mi protector,
mi lugar de refugio,
mi libertador,
mi Dios,
la roca que me protege,
mi escudo,
el poder que me salva,
mi más alto escondite.
3 (4) Tú, Señor, eres digno de alabanza:
cuando te llamo, me salvas de mis enemigos.

4 (5) La muerte me enredó en sus lazos;
sentí miedo ante el torrente destructor.
5 (6) La muerte me envolvió en sus lazos;
¡me encontré en trampas mortales!
6 (7) En mi angustia llamé al Señor,
pedí ayuda a mi Dios,
y él me escuchó desde su templo;
¡mis gritos llegaron a sus oídos!

7 (8) Hubo entonces un fuerte temblor de tierra:
los montes se estremecieron hasta sus bases;
fueron sacudidos por la furia del Señor.
8 (9) De su nariz brotaba humo,
y de su boca un fuego destructor;
¡por la boca lanzaba carbones encendidos!
9 (10) Descorrió la cortina del cielo, y descendió.
¡Debajo de sus pies había grandes nubarrones!
10 (11) Montó en un ser alado, y voló
deslizándose sobre las alas del viento.
11 (12) Tomó como escondite,
como tienda de campaña,
la densa oscuridad que lo rodeaba
y los nubarrones cargados de agua.
12 (13) Un fulgor relampagueante salió de su presencia;
brotaron de las nubes granizos y carbones encendidos.

13 (14) El Señor, el Altísimo,
hizo oír su voz de trueno desde el cielo;
granizos y carbones encendidos.
14 (15) Lanzó sus rayos como flechas,
y a mis enemigos hizo huir en desorden.
15 (16) El fondo del mar quedó al descubierto;
las bases del mundo quedaron a la vista
por la voz amenazante del Señor,
por el fuerte soplo que lanzó.

16 (17) Dios me tendió la mano desde lo alto,
y con su mano me sacó del mar inmenso.
17 (18) Me salvó de enemigos poderosos
que me odiaban y eran más fuertes que yo.
18 (19) Me atacaron cuando yo estaba en desgracia,
pero el Señor me dio su apoyo:
19 (20) me sacó a la libertad;
¡me salvó porque me amaba!
20 (21) El Señor me ha dado la recompensa
que merecía mi limpia conducta,

12 Jerusalén, alaba al Señor;
Sión, alaba a tu Dios.
13 Pues él reforzó los cerrojos de tus puertas
y bendijo a tus hijos dentro de la ciudad.
14 Él trae la paz a tu territorio
y te satisface con lo mejor del trigo.
15 Él envía su palabra a la tierra,
y su palabra corre a toda prisa.
16 Él produce la nieve como si fuera lana,
y esparce la escarcha como si fuera polvo.
17 Él envía el hielo en forma de granizo;
con el frío que envía, el agua se congela.
18 Pero envía su palabra, y la derrite;
hace soplar el viento, y el agua corre.
19 Él dio a conocer a Jacob, a Israel,
su palabra, sus leyes y decretos.
20 No hizo lo mismo con las otras naciones,
las cuales nunca conocieron sus decretos.

¹⁰On that day the root of Jesse shall stand as a signal to the peoples; the nations shall inquire of him, and his dwelling shall be glorious.

¹¹On that day the Lord will extend his hand yet a second time to recover the remnant that is left of his people, from Assyria, from Egypt, from Pathros, from Ethiopia, from Elam, from Shinar, from Hamath, and from the coastlands of the sea.
¹²  He will raise a signal for the nations,
          and will assemble the outcasts of Israel,
     and gather the dispersed of Judah
          from the four corners of the earth.
¹³  The jealousy of Ephraim shall depart,
          the hostility of Judah shall be cut off;
     Ephraim shall not be jealous of Judah,
          and Judah shall not be hostile towards Ephraim.
¹⁴  But they shall swoop down on the backs of the Philistines in the west,
          together they shall plunder the people of the east.
     They shall put forth their hand against Edom and Moab,
          and the Ammonites shall obey them.
¹⁵  And the LORD will utterly destroy
          the tongue of the sea of Egypt;
     and will wave his hand over the River
          with his scorching wind;
     and will split it into seven channels,
          and make a way to cross on foot;
¹⁶  so there shall be a highway from Assyria
          for the remnant that is left of his people,
     as there was for Israel
          when they came up from the land of Egypt.

¹Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, holding in his hand the key to the bottomless pit and a great chain. ²He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years, ³and threw him into the pit, and locked and sealed it over him, so that he would deceive the nations no more, until the thousand years were ended. After that he must be let out for a little while.

⁴Then I saw thrones, and those seated on them were given authority to judge. I also saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their testimony to Jesus and for the word of God. They had not worshiped the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ a thousand years. ⁵(The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended.) This is the first resurrection. ⁶Blessed and holy are those who share in the first resurrection. Over these the second death has no power, but they will be priests of God and of Christ, and they will reign with him a thousand years.

⁷When the thousand years are ended, Satan will be released from his prison ⁸and will come out to deceive the nations at the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, in order to gather them for battle; they are as numerous as the sands of the sea. ⁹They marched up over the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city. And fire came down from heaven and consumed them. ¹⁰And the devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet were, and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.

³⁰"I can do nothing on my own. As I hear, I judge; and my judgment is just, because I seek to do not my own will but the will of him who sent me.

³¹"If I testify about myself, my testimony is not true. ³²There is another who testifies on my behalf, and I know that his testimony to me is true. ³³You sent messengers to John, and he testified to the truth. ³⁴Not that I accept such human testimony, but I say these things so that you may be saved. ³⁵He was a burning and shining lamp, and you were willing to rejoice for a while in his light. ³⁶But I have a testimony greater than John's. The works that the Father has given me to complete, the very works that I am doing, testify on my behalf that the Father has sent me. ³⁷And the Father who sent me has himself testified on my behalf. You have never heard his voice or seen his form, ³⁸and you do not have his word abiding in you, because you do not believe him whom he has sent.

³⁹"You search the scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that testify on my behalf. ⁴⁰Yet you refuse to come to me to have life. ⁴¹I do not accept glory from human beings. ⁴²But I know that you do not have the love of God in you. ⁴³I have come in my Father's name, and you do not accept me; if another comes in his own name, you will accept him. ⁴⁴How can you believe when you accept glory from one another and do not seek the glory that comes from the one who alone is God? ⁴⁵Do not think that I will accuse you before the Father; your accuser is Moses, on whom you have set your hope. ⁴⁶If you believed Moses, you would believe me, for he wrote about me. ⁴⁷But if you do not believe what he wrote, how will you believe what I say?"

1 (1b) Cuando el Señor cambió la suerte de Sión,
nos pareció que estábamos soñando.
2 Entonces nuestra boca y nuestros labios
se llenaron de risas y gritos de alegría;
entonces los paganos decían:
«¡El Señor ha hecho grandes cosas por ellos!»
3 Sí, el Señor había hecho grandes cosas por nosotros,
y estábamos alegres.

4 ¡Señor, haz que cambie de nuevo nuestra suerte,
como cambia el desierto con las lluvias!
5 Los que siembran con lágrimas,
cosecharán con gritos de alegría.
6 Aunque lloren mientras llevan el saco de semilla,
volverán cantando de alegría,
con manojos de trigo entre los brazos.

1   Sólo en Dios encuentro paz;
          mi salvación viene de él.
2   Sólo él me salva y me protege,
          mi refugio; no caeré jamás.

3   ¿Hasta cuándo me atacarán ustedes,
          quieren derribarme todos,
          como a una pared que se derrumba, una cerca a punto de caer?
4   Sólo piensan en hacer caer al que sobresale.
          Se deleitan en la mentira;
     me alaban con los labios,
          pero me maldicen por dentro. Selah

5   Sólo en Dios encuentro paz,
          pues mi esperanza viene de él.
6   Sólo él me salva y me protege,
          mi refugio; no caeré.
7   De Dios dependen mi salvación y mi honor;
          mi roca poderosa, mi refugio está en Dios.

8   ¡Confíen en él en todo momento, pueblo mío!
          ¡Ábranle su corazón!
          ¡Dios es nuestro refugio! Selah

9   La gente humilde no es más que un suspiro,
          la gente poderosa es pura ilusión;
     puestos juntos en la balanza,
          pesan menos que un soplo.
10  No confíen en la violencia,
          ni se ilusionen con el robo;
          aunque aumenten sus riquezas, no pongan en ellas el corazón.

11  Una vez habló Dios,
          y dos veces lo he escuchado:
     que el poder es de Dios,
12       y tuyo es, Señor, el amor leal.
     Porque tú pagas a cada uno
          conforme a lo que haya hecho.
