Daily Readings

(1) Del maestro de coro, para flautas. Salmo de David.
1 (2-3) Señor, Rey mío y Dios mío,
escucha mis palabras,
atiende a mis gemidos,
oye mis súplicas,
pues a ti elevo mi oración.

3 (4) De mañana escuchas mi voz;
muy temprano te expongo mi caso,
y quedo esperando tu respuesta.
4 (5) No eres tú un Dios que se complace en lo malo;
los malvados no pueden vivir a tu lado,
5 (6) ni en tu presencia hay lugar para los orgullosos.
Tú odias a los malhechores,
6 (7) destruyes a los mentirosos y rechazas a los traidores y asesinos.
7 (8) En cambio yo, por tu gran amor,
puedo entrar en tu templo;
¡puedo adorarte con toda reverencia
mirando hacia tu santo templo!

8 (9) Señor, por causa de mis enemigos
guíame en tu justicia,
llévame por el buen camino.
9 (10) Ellos nunca hablan con sinceridad;
¡están corrompidos por dentro!
Sepulcro abierto es su garganta;
¡su lengua es mentirosa!

10 (11) ¡Castígalos, Dios mío!
¡Haz que fracasen sus intrigas!
Recházalos por sus muchos pecados,
porque se han rebelado contra ti.
11 (12) Alégrense los que buscan tu protección;
canten siempre de alegría
porque tú los proteges.
Los que te aman, se alegran por causa tuya,
12 (13) pues tú, Señor, bendices al que es fiel;
tu bondad lo rodea como un escudo.

1 (1b) Hablaré de tu grandeza, mi Dios y Rey;
bendeciré tu nombre por siempre.
2 Diariamente te bendeciré;
alabaré tu nombre por siempre.
3 El Señor es grande y muy digno de alabanza;
su grandeza excede nuestro entendimiento.

4 De padres a hijos se alabarán tus obras,
se anunciarán tus hechos poderosos.
5 Se hablará de tu majestad gloriosa,
y yo hablaré de tus maravillas.
6 Se hablará de tus hechos poderosos y terribles,
y yo hablaré de tu grandeza.
7 Se hablará de tu bondad inmensa,
y a gritos se dirá que tú eres justo.

8 El Señor es tierno y compasivo,
es paciente y todo amor.
9 El Señor es bueno para con todos,
y con ternura cuida sus obras.

10 ¡Que te alaben, Señor, todas tus obras!
¡Que te bendigan tus fieles!
11 ¡Que hablen del esplendor de tu reino!
¡Que hablen de tus hechos poderosos!
12 ¡Que se haga saber a los hombres tu poder
y el gran esplendor de tu reino!
13 Tu reino es un reino eterno,
tu dominio es por todos los siglos.

14 El Señor sostiene a los que caen
y levanta a los que desfallecen.
15 Los ojos de todos esperan de ti
que tú les des su comida a su tiempo.
16 Abres tu mano, y con tu buena voluntad
satisfaces a todos los seres vivos.
17 El Señor es justo en sus caminos,
bondadoso en sus acciones.
18 El Señor está cerca de los que lo invocan,
de los que lo invocan con sinceridad.
19 Él cumple los deseos de los que lo honran;
cuando le piden ayuda, los oye y los salva.
20 El Señor protege a los que lo aman,
pero destruye a los malvados.

21 ¡Que mis labios alaben al Señor!
¡Que todos bendigan su santo nombre,
ahora y siempre!

¹⁴  It shall be said,
     “Build up, build up, prepare the way,
          remove every obstruction from my people’s way.”
¹⁵  For thus says the high and lofty one
          who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy:
     I dwell in the high and holy place,
          and also with those who are contrite and humble in spirit,
     to revive the spirit of the humble,
          and to revive the heart of the contrite.
¹⁶  For I will not continually accuse,
          nor will I always be angry;
     for then the spirits would grow faint before me,
          even the souls that I have made.
¹⁷  Because of their wicked covetousness I was angry;
          I struck them, I hid and was angry;
          but they kept turning back to their own ways.
¹⁸  I have seen their ways, but I will heal them;
          I will lead them and repay them with comfort,
          creating for their mourners the fruit of the lips.
¹⁹   Peace, peace, to the far and the near, says the LORD;
          and I will heal them.
²⁰  But the wicked are like the tossing sea
          that cannot keep still;
          its waters toss up mire and mud.
²¹  There is no peace, says my God, for the wicked.

¹¹See what large letters I make when I am writing in my own hand! ¹²It is those who want to make a good showing in the flesh that try to compel you to be circumcised — only that they may not be persecuted for the cross of Christ. ¹³Even the circumcised do not themselves obey the law, but they want you to be circumcised so that they may boast about your flesh. ¹⁴May I never boast of anything except the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. ¹⁵For neither circumcision nor uncircumcision is anything; but a new creation is everything! ¹⁶As for those who will follow this rule — peace be upon them, and mercy, and upon the Israel of God.

¹⁷From now on, let no one make trouble for me; for I carry the marks of Jesus branded on my body.

¹⁸May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit, brothers and sisters. Amen.

³⁰They went on from there and passed through Galilee. He did not want anyone to know it; ³¹for he was teaching his disciples, saying to them, “The Son of Man is to be betrayed into human hands, and they will kill him, and three days after being killed, he will rise again.” ³²But they did not understand what he was saying and were afraid to ask him.

³³Then they came to Capernaum; and when he was in the house he asked them, “What were you arguing about on the way?” ³⁴But they were silent, for on the way they had argued with one another who was the greatest. ³⁵He sat down, called the twelve, and said to them, “Whoever wants to be first must be last of all and servant of all.” ³⁶Then he took a little child and put it among them; and taking it in his arms, he said to them, ³⁷“Whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me, and whoever welcomes me welcomes not me but the one who sent me.”

³⁸John said to him, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in your name, and we tried to stop him, because he was not following us.” ³⁹But Jesus said, “Do not stop him; for no one who does a deed of power in my name will be able soon afterward to speak evil of me. ⁴⁰Whoever is not against us is for us. ⁴¹For truly I tell you, whoever gives you a cup of water to drink because you bear the name of Christ will by no means lose the reward.”

1 (1b) Dios se alza en la asamblea divina
y dicta sentencia en medio de los dioses:
2 «¿Hasta cuándo harán ustedes juicios falsos
y se pondrán de parte de los malvados?
3 ¡Hagan justicia al débil y al huérfano!
¡Hagan justicia al pobre y al necesitado!
4 ¡Libren a los débiles y pobres,
y defiéndanlos de los malvados!

5 »Pero ustedes no saben, no entienden;
andan en la oscuridad.
Tiemblan los cimientos de la tierra.
6 Yo dije que ustedes son dioses;
que todos son hijos del Altísimo.
7 Sin embargo, morirán como todo hombre,
¡caerán como cualquier tirano!»

8 ¡Oh Dios, dispónte a juzgar la tierra,
pues tú eres el dueño de todas las naciones!

1 (1b) Alaben al Señor, seres celestiales:
alaben el poder y la gloria del Señor,
2 alaben el glorioso nombre del Señor,
adoren al Señor en su hermoso santuario.

3 La voz del Señor resuena sobre el mar;
el Dios glorioso hace tronar:
¡el Señor está sobre el mar inmenso!
4 La voz del Señor resuena con fuerza;
la voz del Señor resuena imponente;
5 la voz del Señor desgaja los cedros.
¡El Señor desgaja los cedros del Líbano!
6 Hace temblar los montes Líbano y Sirión;
¡los hace saltar como toros y becerros!
7 La voz del Señor lanza llamas de fuego;
8 la voz del Señor hace temblar al desierto;
¡el Señor hace temblar al desierto de Cadés!
9 La voz del Señor sacude las encinas
y deja sin árboles los bosques.
En su templo, todos le rinden honor.

10 El Señor gobierna las lluvias;
¡el Señor gobierna cual rey eterno!
11 El Señor da fuerza a su pueblo;
el Señor bendice a su pueblo con paz.
