Daily Readings

(1) Del maestro de coro. Salmo de David, (2) después que el profeta Natán lo reprendió por haber cometido adulterio con Betsabé.
1 (3) Por tu amor, oh Dios, ten compasión de mí;
por tu gran ternura, borra mis culpas.
2 (4) ¡Lávame de mi maldad!
¡Límpiame de mi pecado!
3 (5) Reconozco que he sido rebelde;
mi pecado no se borra de mi mente.
4 (6) Contra ti he pecado, y sólo contra ti,
haciendo lo malo, lo que tú condenas.
Por eso tu sentencia es justa;
irreprochable tu juicio.

5 (7) En verdad, soy malo desde que nací;
soy pecador desde el seno de mi madre.
6 (8) En verdad, tú amas al corazón sincero,
y en lo íntimo me has dado sabiduría.
7 (9) Purifícame con hisopo, y quedaré limpio;
lávame, y quedaré más blanco que la nieve.
8 (10) Lléname de gozo y alegría;
alégrame de nuevo, aunque me has quebrantado.
9 (11) Aleja de tu vista mis pecados
y borra todas mis maldades.

10 (12) Oh Dios, ¡pon en mí un corazón limpio!,
¡dame un espíritu nuevo y fiel!
11 (13) No me apartes de tu presencia
ni me quites tu santo espíritu.
12 (14) Hazme sentir de nuevo el gozo de tu salvación;
sosténme con tu espíritu generoso,
13 (15) para que yo enseñe a los rebeldes tus caminos
y los pecadores se vuelvan a ti.
14 (16) Líbrame de cometer homicidios,
oh Dios, Dios de mi salvación,
y anunciaré con cantos que tú eres justo.

15 (17) Señor, abre mis labios,
y con mis labios te cantaré alabanzas.
16 (18) Pues tú no quieres ofrendas ni holocaustos;
yo te los daría, pero no es lo que te agrada.
17 (19) Las ofrendas a Dios son un espíritu dolido;
¡tú no desprecias, oh Dios, un corazón hecho pedazos!

18 (20) Haz bien a Sión, por tu buena voluntad;
vuelve a levantar los muros de Jerusalén.
19 (21) Entonces aceptarás los sacrificios requeridos,
las ofrendas y los holocaustos;
entonces se ofrecerán becerros sobre tu altar.

¡Alaben al Señor desde lo alto!
2 ¡Alábenlo ustedes, todos sus ángeles!
¡Alábenlo ustedes, ejércitos del cielo!
3 ¡Alábenlo, sol y luna!
¡Alábenlo ustedes, brillantes luceros!
4 ¡Alábalo tú, altísimo cielo,
y tú, agua que estás encima del cielo!

5 Alaben el nombre del Señor,
pues él dio una orden y todo fue creado;
6 él lo estableció todo para siempre,
y dictó una ley que no puede ser violada.

7 ¡Alaben al Señor desde la tierra,
monstruos del mar, y mar profundo!
8 ¡El rayo y el granizo, la nieve y la neblina!
¡El viento tempestuoso que cumple sus mandatos!
9 ¡Los montes y las colinas!
¡Todos los cedros y los árboles frutales!
10 ¡Los animales domésticos y los salvajes!
¡Las aves y los reptiles!
11 ¡Los reyes del mundo y todos los pueblos!
¡Todos los jefes y gobernantes del mundo!
12 ¡Hombres y mujeres, jóvenes y viejos!

13 ¡Alaben todos el nombre del Señor,
pues sólo su nombre es altísimo!
¡Su honor está por encima del cielo y de la tierra!
14 ¡Él ha dado poder a su pueblo!

¡Alabanza de todos sus fieles,
de los israelitas, su pueblo cercano!

¡Aleluya!

¹   The spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me,
          because the LORD has anointed me;
     he has sent me to bring good news to the oppressed,
          to bind up the brokenhearted,
     to proclaim liberty to the captives,
          and release to the prisoners;
²   to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor,
          and the day of vengeance of our God;
          to comfort all who mourn;
³   to provide for those who mourn in Zion —
          to give them a garland instead of ashes,
     the oil of gladness instead of mourning,
          the mantle of praise instead of a faint spirit.
     They will be called oaks of righteousness,
          the planting of the LORD, to display his glory.
⁴   They shall build up the ancient ruins,
          they shall raise up the former devastations;
     they shall repair the ruined cities,
          the devastations of many generations.

⁵   Strangers shall stand and feed your flocks,
          foreigners shall till your land and dress your vines;
⁶   but you shall be called priests of the LORD,
          you shall be named ministers of our God;
     you shall enjoy the wealth of the nations,
          and in their riches you shall glory.
⁷   Because their shame was double,
          and dishonor was proclaimed as their lot,
     therefore they shall possess a double portion;
          everlasting joy shall be theirs.

⁸   For I the LORD love justice,
          I hate robbery and wrongdoing;
     I will faithfully give them their recompense,
          and I will make an everlasting covenant with them.
⁹   Their descendants shall be known among the nations,
          and their offspring among the peoples;
     all who see them shall acknowledge
          that they are a people whom the LORD has blessed.

¹You must understand this, that in the last days distressing times will come. ²For people will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, ³inhuman, implacable, slanderers, profligates, brutes, haters of good, ⁴treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, ⁵holding to the outward form of godliness but denying its power. Avoid them! ⁶For among them are those who make their way into households and captivate silly women, overwhelmed by their sins and swayed by all kinds of desires, ⁷who are always being instructed and can never arrive at a knowledge of the truth. ⁸As Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so these people, of corrupt mind and counterfeit faith, also oppose the truth. ⁹But they will not make much progress, because, as in the case of those two men, their folly will become plain to everyone.

¹⁰Now you have observed my teaching, my conduct, my aim in life, my faith, my patience, my love, my steadfastness, ¹¹my persecutions and suffering the things that happened to me in Antioch, Iconium, and Lystra. What persecutions I endured! Yet the Lord rescued me from all of them. ¹²Indeed, all who want to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted. ¹³But wicked people and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving others and being deceived. ¹⁴But as for you, continue in what you have learned and firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it, ¹⁵and how from childhood you have known the sacred writings that are able to instruct you for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. ¹⁶All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, ¹⁷so that everyone who belongs to God may be proficient, equipped for every good work.

³²They were on the road, going up to Jerusalem, and Jesus was walking ahead of them; they were amazed, and those who followed were afraid. He took the twelve aside again and began to tell them what was to happen to him, ³³saying, “See, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be handed over to the chief priests and the scribes, and they will condemn him to death; then they will hand him over to the Gentiles; ³⁴they will mock him, and spit upon him, and flog him, and kill him; and after three days he will rise again.”

³⁵James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came forward to him and said to him, “Teacher, we want you to do for us whatever we ask of you.” ³⁶And he said to them, “What is it you want me to do for you?” ³⁷And they said to him, “Grant us to sit, one at your right hand and one at your left, in your glory.” ³⁸But Jesus said to them, “You do not know what you are asking. Are you able to drink the cup that I drink, or be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?” ³⁹They replied, “We are able.” Then Jesus said to them, “The cup that I drink you will drink; and with the baptism with which I am baptized, you will be baptized; ⁴⁰but to sit at my right hand or at my left is not mine to grant, but it is for those for whom it has been prepared.”

⁴¹When the ten heard this, they began to be angry with James and John. ⁴²So Jesus called them and said to them, “You know that among the Gentiles those whom they recognize as their rulers lord it over them, and their great ones are tyrants over them. ⁴³But it is not so among you; but whoever wishes to become great among you must be your servant, ⁴⁴and whoever wishes to be first among you must be slave of all. ⁴⁵For the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life a ransom for many.”

1 (2) Con fuerte voz clamo al Señor,
con fuerte voz le pido misericordia.
2 (3) En su presencia expongo mi queja,
en su presencia doy a conocer mi angustia
3 (4) cuando me encuentro totalmente deprimido.

Señor, tú conoces mi camino:
en el camino por donde voy,
me han puesto una trampa.
4 (5) Vuelvo la mirada a la derecha
y nadie viene en mi ayuda.
¡No hay nadie que me defienda!
¡No hay nadie que se preocupe de mí!

5 (6) A ti clamo, Señor,
y te digo: «Tú eres mi refugio;
tú eres todo lo que tengo en esta vida.»
6 (7) Presta atención a mis gritos,
porque me encuentro sin fuerzas.
Líbrame de los que me persiguen,
porque son más fuertes que yo.
7 (8) Sácame de mi prisión
para que pueda yo alabarte.
Los hombres honrados me rodearán
cuando me hayas tratado bien.

1 (2) Oh Dios de Sión,
¡tú eres digno de alabanza!,
¡tú mereces que te cumplan lo prometido,
2 (3) pues escuchas la oración!

Todo el mundo viene a ti.
3 (4) Nuestras maldades nos dominan,
pero tú perdonas nuestros pecados.
4 (5) Feliz el hombre a quien escoges
y lo llevas a vivir cerca de ti,
en las habitaciones de tu templo.
¡Que seamos colmados con lo mejor de tu casa,
con la santidad de tu templo!

5 (6) Dios y Salvador nuestro,
tú nos respondes
con maravillosos actos de justicia;
la tierra entera confía en ti,
y también el mar lejano;
6 (7) tú mantienes firmes las montañas
con tu poder y tu fuerza.
7 (8) Tú calmas el estruendo de las olas
y el alboroto de los pueblos;
8 (9) aun los que habitan en lejanas tierras
tiemblan ante tus maravillas;
por ti hay gritos de alegría
del oriente al occidente.
9 (10) Tú tienes cuidado de la tierra;
le envías lluvia y la haces producir;
tú, con arroyos caudalosos,
haces crecer los trigales.
¡Así preparas el campo!
10 (11) Tú empapas los surcos de la tierra
y nivelas sus terrones;
ablandas la tierra con lluvias abundantes
y bendices sus productos.
11 (12) Tú colmas el año de bendiciones,
tus nubes derraman abundancia;
12 (13) los pastos del desierto están verdes
y los montes se visten de gala;
13 (14) los llanos se cubren de rebaños,
los valles se revisten de trigales;
¡todos cantan y gritan de alegría!
