1 (2) Dios mío, Dios mío,
¿por qué me has abandonado?,
¿por qué no vienes a salvarme?,
¿por qué no atiendes a mis lamentos?
2 (3) Dios mío,
día y noche te llamo, y no respondes;
¡no hay descanso para mí!

3 (4) Pero tú eres santo;
tú reinas, alabado por Israel.
4 (5) Nuestros padres confiaron en ti;
confiaron, y tú los libertaste;
5 (6) te pidieron ayuda, y les diste libertad;
confiaron en ti, y no los defraudaste.

6 (7) Pero yo no soy un hombre, sino un gusano;
¡soy el hazmerreír de la gente!
7 (8) Los que me ven, se burlan de mí;
me hacen muecas, mueven la cabeza
8 (9) y dicen:
«Éste confiaba en el Señor;
pues que el Señor lo libre.
Ya que tanto lo quiere, que lo salve.»

9 (10) Y así es:
tú me hiciste nacer del vientre de mi madre;
en su pecho me hiciste descansar.
10 (11) Desde antes que yo naciera,
fui puesto bajo tu cuidado;
desde el vientre de mi madre,
mi Dios eres tú.
11 (12) No te alejes de mí,
pues estoy al borde de la angustia
y no tengo quien me ayude.

12 (13) Mis enemigos me han rodeado como toros,
como bravos toros de Basán;
13 (14) rugen como leones feroces,
abren la boca y se lanzan contra mí.
14 (15) Soy como agua que se derrama;
mis huesos están dislocados.
Mi corazón es como cera
que se derrite dentro de mí.
15 (16) Tengo la boca seca como una teja;
tengo la lengua pegada al paladar.
¡Me has hundido hasta el polvo de la muerte!
16 (17) Como perros, una banda de malvados
me ha rodeado por completo;
me han desgarrado las manos y los pies.
17 (18) ¡Puedo contarme los huesos!
Mis enemigos no me quitan la vista de encima;
18 (19) se han repartido mi ropa entre sí,
y sobre ella echan suertes.

19 (20) Pero tú, Señor, que eres mi fuerza,
¡no te alejes!, ¡ven pronto en mi ayuda!
20 (21) Líbrame de morir a filo de espada,
no dejes que me maten esos perros,
21 (22) sálvame de la boca de esos leones,
¡defiéndeme de los cuernos de esos toros!

22 (23) Yo hablaré de ti a mis hermanos,
te alabaré en sus reuniones.
23 (24) Ustedes, los que honran al Señor, ¡alábenlo!
¡Glorifíquenlo todos los descendientes de Jacob!
¡Adórenlo todos los descendientes de Israel!
24 (25) Pues él no desprecia ni pasa por alto
el sufrimiento de los pobres,
ni se esconde de ellos.
¡Él los oye cuando le piden ayuda!
25 (26) En presencia de tu pueblo numeroso
alabaré tu fidelidad;
delante de los que te honran
te cumpliré mis promesas.

26 (27) Coman, ustedes los oprimidos,
hasta que estén satisfechos;
alaben al Señor, ustedes que lo buscan,
y vivan muchos años.
27 (28) Razas y naciones todas,
gente de todos los rincones de la tierra:
acuérdense del Señor, y vengan a él;
¡arrodíllense delante de él!
28 (29) Porque el Señor es el Rey,
y él gobierna las naciones.
29 (30) Inclínense y adórenlo sólo a él
todos los que viven en abundancia,
todos los que han de volver al polvo,
pues en sí mismos no tienen vida.

30 (31) Mis descendientes adorarán al Señor
y hablarán de él toda la vida;
31 (32) a los que nazcan después, les contarán
de su justicia y de sus obras.

¡Alaben al Señor desde el cielo!
¡Alaben al Señor desde lo alto!
2 ¡Alábenlo ustedes, todos sus ángeles!
¡Alábenlo ustedes, ejércitos del cielo!
3 ¡Alábenlo, sol y luna!
¡Alábenlo ustedes, brillantes luceros!
4 ¡Alábalo tú, altísimo cielo,
y tú, agua que estás encima del cielo!

5 Alaben el nombre del Señor,
pues él dio una orden y todo fue creado;
6 él lo estableció todo para siempre,
y dictó una ley que no puede ser violada.

7 ¡Alaben al Señor desde la tierra,
monstruos del mar, y mar profundo!
8 ¡El rayo y el granizo, la nieve y la neblina!
¡El viento tempestuoso que cumple sus mandatos!
9 ¡Los montes y las colinas!
¡Todos los cedros y los árboles frutales!
10 ¡Los animales domésticos y los salvajes!
¡Las aves y los reptiles!
11 ¡Los reyes del mundo y todos los pueblos!
¡Todos los jefes y gobernantes del mundo!
12 ¡Hombres y mujeres, jóvenes y viejos!

13 ¡Alaben todos el nombre del Señor,
pues sólo su nombre es altísimo!
¡Su honor está por encima del cielo y de la tierra!
14 ¡Él ha dado poder a su pueblo!

¡Alabanza de todos sus fieles,
de los israelitas, su pueblo cercano!

¡Aleluya!

¹   Run to and fro through the streets of Jerusalem,
          look around and take note!
     Search its squares and see
          if you can find one person
     who acts justly
          and seeks truth —
     so that I may pardon Jerusalem.
²   Although they say, “As the LORD lives,”
          yet they swear falsely.
³   O LORD, do your eyes not look for truth?
     You have struck them,
          but they felt no anguish;
     you have consumed them,
          but they refused to take correction.
     They have made their faces harder than rock;
          they have refused to turn back.

⁴   Then I said, “These are only the poor, they have no sense;
     for they do not know the way of the LORD,
          the law of their God.
⁵   Let me go to the rich
          and speak to them;
     surely they know the way of the LORD,
          the law of their God.”
     But they all alike had broken the yoke,
          they had burst the bonds.

⁶   Therefore a lion from the forest shall kill them,
          a wolf from the desert shall destroy them.
     A leopard is watching against their cities;
          everyone who goes out of them shall be torn in pieces —
     because their transgressions are many,
          their apostasies are great.

⁷   How can I pardon you?
          Your children have forsaken me,
          and have sworn by those who are no gods.
     When I fed them to the full,
          they committed adultery
          and trooped to the houses of prostitutes.
⁸   They were well-fed lusty stallions,
          each neighing for his neighbor’s wife.
⁹   Shall I not punish them for these things?
                                                  says the LORD;
          and shall I not bring retribution
          on a nation such as this?

^2:25Circumcision indeed is of value if you obey the law; but if you break the law, your circumcision has become uncircumcision. ²⁶So, if those who are uncircumcised keep the requirements of the law, will not their uncircumcision be regarded as circumcision? ²⁷Then those who are physically uncircumcised but keep the law will condemn you that have the written code and circumcision but break the law. ²⁸For a person is not a Jew who is one outwardly, nor is true circumcision something external and physical. ²⁹Rather, a person is a Jew who is one inwardly, and real circumcision is a matter of the heart — it is spiritual and not literal. Such a person receives praise not from others but from God.

^3:1Then what advantage has the Jew? Or what is the value of circumcision? ²Much, in every way. For in the first place the Jews were entrusted with the oracles of God. ³What if some were unfaithful? Will their faithlessness nullify the faithfulness of God? ⁴By no means! Although everyone is a liar, let God be proved true, as it is written,
     “So that you may be justified in your words,
          and prevail in your judging.”
⁵But if our injustice serves to confirm the justice of God, what should we say? That God is unjust to inflict wrath on us? (I speak in a human way.) ⁶By no means! For then how could God judge the world? ⁷But if through my falsehood God's truthfulness abounds to his glory, why am I still being condemned as a sinner? ⁸And why not say (as some people slander us by saying that we say), “Let us do evil so that good may come”? Their condemnation is deserved!

⁹What then? Are we any better off? No, not at all; for we have already charged that all, both Jews and Greeks, are under the power of sin, ¹⁰as it is written:
     “There is no one who is righteous, not even one;
¹¹   there is no one who has understanding,
          there is no one who seeks God.
¹²  All have turned aside, together they have become worthless;
          there is no one who shows kindness,
          there is not even one.”
¹³  “Their throats are opened graves;
          they use their tongues to deceive.”
     “The venom of vipers is under their lips.”
¹⁴        “Their mouths are full of cursing and bitterness.”
¹⁵  “Their feet are swift to shed blood;
¹⁶       ruin and misery are in their paths,
¹⁷  and the way of peace they have not known.”
¹⁸       “There is no fear of God before their eyes.”

³⁰“I can do nothing on my own. As I hear, I judge; and my judgment is just, because I seek to do not my own will but the will of him who sent me.

³¹“If I testify about myself, my testimony is not true. ³²There is another who testifies on my behalf, and I know that his testimony to me is true. ³³You sent messengers to John, and he testified to the truth. ³⁴Not that I accept such human testimony, but I say these things so that you may be saved. ³⁵He was a burning and shining lamp, and you were willing to rejoice for a while in his light. ³⁶But I have a testimony greater than John’s. The works that the Father has given me to complete, the very works that I am doing, testify on my behalf that the Father has sent me. ³⁷And the Father who sent me has himself testified on my behalf. You have never heard his voice or seen his form, ³⁸and you do not have his word abiding in you, because you do not believe him whom he has sent.

³⁹“You search the scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that testify on my behalf. ⁴⁰Yet you refuse to come to me to have life. ⁴¹I do not accept glory from human beings. ⁴²But I know that you do not have the love of God in you. ⁴³I have come in my Father’s name, and you do not accept me; if another comes in his own name, you will accept him. ⁴⁴How can you believe when you accept glory from one another and do not seek the glory that comes from the one who alone is God? ⁴⁵Do not think that I will accuse you before the Father; your accuser is Moses, on whom you have set your hope. ⁴⁶If you believed Moses, you would believe me, for he wrote about me. ⁴⁷But if you do not believe what he wrote, how will you believe what I say?”

1 ¡Den gracias al Señor!
¡Proclamen su nombre!
Cuenten a los pueblos sus acciones.
2 Canten himnos en su honor.
¡Hablen de sus grandes hechos!
3 Siéntanse orgullosos de su santo nombre.
¡Siéntase alegre el corazón
de los que buscan al Señor!
4 Recurran al Señor, y a su poder;
recurran al Señor en todo tiempo.
5 Recuerden sus obras grandes y maravillosas,
y los decretos que ha pronunciado;
6 ustedes, descendientes de su siervo Abraham;
ustedes, hijos de Jacob, sus escogidos.

7 Él es el Señor, nuestro Dios;
¡él gobierna toda la tierra!
8 Ni aunque pasen mil generaciones
se olvidará de las promesas de su alianza,
9 de la alianza que hizo con Abraham,
del juramento que hizo a Isaac
10 y que confirmó como ley para Jacob,
como alianza eterna para Israel,
11 cuando dijo:
«Voy a darte la tierra de Canaán
como la herencia que te toca.»

12 Aunque ellos eran pocos,
unos cuantos extranjeros en la tierra,
13 que iban de nación en nación
y de reino en reino,
14 Dios no permitió que nadie los maltratara,
y aun advirtió a los reyes:
15 «No toquen a mis escogidos
ni maltraten a mis profetas.»

16 Hizo venir hambre a aquella tierra,
y les quitó todo alimento.
17 Pero envió delante de ellos a José,
al que habían vendido como esclavo.
18 Le lastimaron los pies con cadenas;
¡lo aprisionaron con hierros!
19 La palabra del Señor puso a prueba a José,
hasta que se cumplió lo que José había anunciado.
20 El rey, el que gobernaba a mucha gente,
ordenó que le dieran libertad;
21 lo nombró amo y señor de su casa
y de todo cuanto tenía,
22 para que enseñara e hiciera sabios
a los jefes y a los ancianos.

23 Vino después Israel, que es Jacob,
y vivió como extranjero en Egipto,
en la tierra de Cam.
24 Dios hizo grande en número a su pueblo,
y más fuerte que los egipcios.
25 Pero hizo que los egipcios
se pusieran en contra de su pueblo
y engañaran a los siervos de Dios.

26 Entonces Dios envió a su siervo Moisés,
y a Aarón, a quien había escogido,
27 y ellos realizaron señales de Dios en el desierto:
¡grandes maravillas en la tierra de Cam!
28 Envió Dios una oscuridad que todo lo cubrió,
pero los egipcios desatendieron sus palabras.
29 Convirtió en sangre el agua de sus ríos,
y mató a sus peces;
30 infestó de ranas el país,
y aun la alcoba del rey.
31 Habló Dios, y nubes de tábanos y mosquitos
invadieron el territorio egipcio.
32 En vez de lluvia, envió granizo
y llamas de fuego sobre el país.
33 Destrozó sus viñas y sus higueras;
¡destrozó los árboles de Egipto!
34 Habló Dios, y llegaron las langostas;
¡tantas eran, que no se podían contar!
35 ¡Devoraron la hierba del campo
y todo lo que la tierra había producido!
36 ¡Hirió de muerte, en Egipto mismo,
al primer hijo de toda familia egipcia!

37 Dios sacó después a su pueblo
cargado de oro y plata,
y nadie entre las tribus tropezó.
38 Los egipcios se alegraron de verlos partir,
pues estaban aterrados.
39 Dios extendió una nube para cubrirlos
y un fuego para alumbrarlos de noche.
40 Pidieron comida, y les mandó codornices,
y con pan del cielo los dejó satisfechos.
41 Partió la roca, y de ella brotó agua
que corrió por el desierto como un río.
42 Pues se acordó de la santa promesa
que había hecho a su siervo Abraham.
43 Fue así como Dios sacó a su pueblo escogido,
entre gritos de alegría,
44 y les dio las tierras de otras naciones
y el fruto del trabajo de otros pueblos,
45 para que respetaran y atendieran
las leyes y enseñanzas del Señor.

¡Aleluya!

(1b) Desde el fondo del abismo
clamo a ti, Señor:
2 ¡Escucha, Señor, mi voz!,
¡atiendan tus oídos mi grito suplicante!

3 Señor, Señor,
si tuvieras en cuenta la maldad,
¿quién podría mantenerse en pie?
4 Pero en ti encontramos perdón,
para que te honremos.

5 Con toda mi alma espero al Señor,
y confío en su palabra.
6 Yo espero al Señor
más que los centinelas a la mañana.
Así como los centinelas esperan a la mañana,
7 espera tú, Israel, al Señor,
pues en él hay amor y completa libertad.
8 ¡Él librará a Israel de toda su maldad!
