Self-Development of People Sunday
Self-Development of People (SDOP) Sunday is an opportunity for Presbyterians to learn about the work of the Presbyterian Church (USA) in engaging with communities on issues of poverty and other social injustices through the ministry of Presbyterian Committee on the Self-Development of People. SDOP is a beneficiary of the One Great Hour of Sharing which supports the ministry’s work. The SDOP Sunday Resource and Yearbook is an annual booklet highlighting how Presbyterian Committee on Self-Development of People (SDOP) engages with communities and the church to eradicate systemic poverty and its intersectional social and economic justice issues. This work is carried out locally, nationally, and internationally through SDOP’s national and mid council committees partnering with low-income community-based groups on long term projects that community residents will initiate and lead. The resource which is used year-round is one of the primary ways to connect Presbyterians to the One Great Hour of Sharing.
The Presbyterian Committee on the Self-Development of People (SDOP) Sunday web page resources share ideas of how to celebrate SDOP Sunday in 2025.
