What's Next? Shifting the Faithful Fight to State Budgets

Default Photo

Given the passage of an immoral Congressional spending bill that slashes federal-level support for healthcare and food assistance, state legislators are faced with tough choices as they balance newly shrunk budgets. This webinar invites constituents to hear from experienced state-level advocates about how people of faith can provide a moral witness to lawmakers as they negotiate state budgets. We will hear from the Rev. Dr. Jennifer Copeland, Executive Director of the NC Council of Churches and United Methodist minister, along with Bee Moorhead, Executive Director of Texas Impact and PC(USA) ruling elder, and Peter Chen, Esq., Senior Analyst at New Jersey Policy Perspective. Working in different political environments with ecumenical, interfaith, and secular partners, these speakers will offer stories of successful organizing and practical steps for individuals and congregations wanting to protect one another and their neighbors from the effects of unjust budgeting decisions.
