PHILADELPHIA — Andrew Junkin, First Vice Chairperson of the Board of Directors, has announced that the process has officially begun to identify the next president of the Board of Pensions of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). Korn Ferry, a global consulting firm with expertise in executive searches that will be assisting in the search, has begun to conduct stakeholder interviews to define characteristics of a successful candidate.

“These conversations are essential so that we can define skills, experience, and attributes needed in the next president,” Junkin said. “The leadership profile is critical as it will guide our search in both identifying and evaluating candidates objectively.”

In the coming weeks, Korn Ferry will also begin to develop a list of highly qualified candidates based on this leadership profile. The Presidential Search Committee will present a candidate to the Board of Directors for election in spring 2026 after consultation with the Rev. Jihyun Oh, Stated Clerk of the General Assembly of the PC(USA) and Executive Director of the Interim Unified Agency. After election, the candidate would be confirmed at the denomination’s 227th General Assembly in June 2026, with the new president assuming the role upon receiving the confirmatory vote of the General Assembly.

As the search begins in earnest, Catherine Cuellar (Board of Directors) will be joining the Presidential Search Committee. “We’re delighted for Catherine to join us on the Presidential Search Committee,” Junkin said. “Her perspective as Chair of the Board Development and Governance Committee is invaluable as we continue the important task of identifying the next president to lead the Board of Pensions into the future.” Additionally, S. Bradley Perkins, Chairperson of the Board of Directors, will be stepping down from the search committee.

In addition to Junkin and Cuellar, the committee includes the Rev. Dr. Ellen Clark Clémot (Board of Directors), the Rev. Dr. David A. Davis (Unification Commission), Fred Gamble (Board of Directors), Jean Reynolds (Board of Directors) and the Rev. Fernando Rodríguez (Board of Directors).
