VoiceLine summaries from GA will be available

3-minute daily telephone summaries from Pittsburgh are produced by PNS

June 26, 2012

The 220th General Assembly in three minutes a day.

Once again this year, Presbyterian News Service will produce daily telephone summaries of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) General Assembly in Pittsburgh. The phone reports, recorded each day by PNS Coordinator Jerry L. Van Marter, will recap each day’s events and decisions, beginning Saturday, June 30.

To reach the VoiceLine reports ― a partnership between PNS and Presbytel, the denomination’s toll-free telephone information service ― call 502-569-5000, extension 2012 or toll-free at 800-728-7228, extension 2012.

A five-minute recap of the entire Assembly will be available shortly after adjournment at noon on Saturday, July 7.

“News stories from the General Assembly will be online, as will live-streaming of the plenary sessions,” says Van Marter, who has been recording GA summaries for VoiceLine for 20 years. “But many Presbyterians like the ease and convenience of just picking up the phone and getting a brief summary of each day’s news.”

For more information about VoiceLine summaries from the General Assembly, call PresbyTel at 800-872-3283 or Jerry Van Marter at 502-569-5493 or toll-free at 800-728-7228, ext. 5493.

  1. I think we should use a placard of a newborn baby to depict the present order of the Presbyterian Church USA.

  2. I'll be listening! My first GA was Portland, in '67, where the opponents to C'67 borrowed a casket to placard "Death of the Presbyterian Church." Hasn't happened yet. I bet God will use some more nifty surprises to work around our hardness of heart and stiffness of neck.
