Hymn writer Carolyn Winfrey Gillette wrote this hymn for the Season of Peace to support the work of the Presbyterian Peacemaking Program and the Peacemaking Offering. The hymn is based on the new, free Bible study “The Things That Make For Peace.” The Bible study and the hymn have five movements: recognizing peace, finding peace, practicing peace, extending peace, and living peace. Congregations are encouraged to use both the hymn and Bible study during the Season of Peace, September 7-October 4.
