The General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) has demanded the end of a program called ATEP (Alien Transfer and Exit Program) because it is dangerous and separates families and friends during the removal process. The Stated Clerk has written a letter to officials at the Department of Homeland Security and Customs and Border Protection, which discusses the problems with the program and requests the program be ended.
The Stated Clerk of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) sends a letter to the Obama Administration urging it to end programs that create partnerships with federal immigration agencies and local law enforcement agencies. The 220th General Assembly (2012) sided with immigrant communities and advocates that report an increase in racial profiling as well as an increase in distrust of local police by immigrant communities.
